Journey along NEL

Journey along NEL

It was a tiring day! We walked almost continuously for 3-4 hours!
As we are planning to get a flat and after seeing the artist impression of the Punggol and we were very excited about planning to apply for September 2011 BTO! So we decided to visit Punggol to check it out.

Very nice rite?!?!?! lol

But when we went there, it was like a super big construction ground with very few people and many uncompleted buildings and construction workers!

Although it will look nice when it is completed, but we feel the waterway will actually be surrounded by lots of hdb flats around it. We took a ride on the LRT for one round into the more mature estate near Punggol plaza, it felt alot like the current Fajar estate in Bukit Panjang except it will have alot more facilities around the flats.

Next we went on to explore NEX (Must visit) in Serangoon. It was a very crowded place and pretty complicating building. We felt kind of lost walking in it but there were alot of food stores to explore. Also there was a very nice water park on the top level!

Dog owners will really love this shopping center because they have dog playground and DoggieStyle Cafe for dogs and dog owners to dine in!

There were more than 30 food stores easily in this restaurant and we had a hard time choosing. In the end we decided on Barcelos from the top few rating restaurants on hungrygowhere. But after we went in, my girlfriend told me it had only one review which gave it high rating. _"
So we were quite sianz about it because we could have tried other restaurants instead such as the roaster chicken.
Anyway Barcelos is very similar to Nandos. They have sauces like peri peri mild or tangy lemon and also 1/4 chicken. The whole environment felt like Nandos actually. We ordered a 1/4 chicken meal with tangy lemon sauce and a spicy rice and mushroom and potatoes as sides for S$13 and Chicken Pitta Pocket with spicy wedges for S$12.

The food were not bad and not spicy at all even though the menu said it was spicy. We had to add alot more mild peri peri to the dishes to make it spicy lol.
Rating:
1/4 Chicken: 3/5
Chicken Pitta Pocket: 4/5
Spicy rice: 2.5/5
Mushroom and potatoes: 3/5
Spicy wedges: 3/5

We then went to Sogurt for dessert. We only tried the velvet cake and original flavours.
It was not that fantastic actually. The shop is similar to Swirl Art only that they have a different flavours available. The velvet cake tasted like chocolate ice cream instead of yogurt and original flavours tasted just like any other yogurt stores.
Rating:
Velvet cake: 3/5
Original flavours: 3/5
